WITH EXPERIENCE
Sapporo has a wealth of experience in handling international events, boasting a proven track record of success over the years. The city has successfully hosted world-class conference events, such as the 2008 G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit-related meetings, the 2010 Meeting of APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade, G7 Ministers' Meeting on Climate, Energy and Environment, as well as large-scale incentive tours. The city also offers an ideal environment, with its natural surroundings providing the perfect backdrop for inspiring association meetings and high-impact incentive trips.
SUSTAINABILITY
Blessed with a rich natural environment, Sapporo has been aiming to become a world-class environmental city since it was declared the Environmental Capital of Sapporo in 2008. The city was selected as an SDGs Future City in 2018, certified as a Fair-Trade Town in 2019, and the first city in the country to receive Platinum certification from LEED for Cities and Communities in 2020.
As a destination for business events, we participate in the Global Destination Sustainability Movement, which evaluates cities' environmental initiatives from the perspective of tourism and events, and work with companies and organizations in Hokkaido to reduce the environmental impact of events by proposing original carbon offsets and CSR programs to contribute to creating a sustainable city.
